Or you can also get fancy and add fringe or wide decorative bindings. Check out the edge finishing section of the website for information and pictures of our many edge finishing options.

If you’ve been shopping for large area rugs, you probably already know how expensive they can be. A room-sized rug can cost hundreds – if not thousands – of dollars. So what do you do if you have your heart set on a large area rug, but your budget won’t accommodate it?

Creating large area rugs from carpet remnants may be the answer you’re looking for.

Local carpet stores or outlets have a huge stock of carpet remnants to choose from. The biggest problem you will have is choosing a color or style. It’s a good idea to bring along a few decorative pieces (or photos) from the room you’ll be using your new area rug, such as paint chips, fabric swatches, wood, decorative object. The carpet samples will be marked with their sizes, so it’s just a matter of finding a remnant that’s slightly larger than what you need. Don’t despair if you don’t find you don’t find a piece big enough. You can piece different sized together to create the right size.

Finish Your Area Rug
The salespeople at the carpet store or outlet are familiar with creating area rugs, so they’ll be able to arrange cutting and binding. That will cost an additional fee, but you’ll find that it’s still much lower than buying a pre-made area rug. Then you can choose how to finish your large area rug (if you don’t finish the edges, they will fray and look unsightly) The simplest way is either binding or serging the edges. Or you can also get fancy and add fringe or wide decorative bindings. Check out our website for edge finishing ideas.

Marine carpet is inherently stain resistant because it is manufactured from solution-dyed Polypropylene fibers. That’s a good thing because any carpet in a boat takes a lot of abuse in a very concentrated area. To keep the carpet in your boat looking good for as long as possible, follow these steps:

1. Vacuum regularly to remove dirt from the surface. Carpet is prone to staining when particles become embedded over time.

2. Before cleaning your marine carpet, vacuum it to remove any loose dirt or particles.

3. Clean with standard carpet cleaner being sure to follow their instructions for spot testing first.

4. For spot cleaning:

When there is a spill or a stain, it should be treated as soon as possible.
For wet spills, blot the area to remove excess liquid. Treat as soon as possible with a standard carpet cleaner solution (follow their directions for spot testing first).
For a dry stain, vacuum it first.
After you have rinsed the residue off, blot dry.
5. The key to successfully cleaning your boat carpet and in removing a stain is to be sure all the soap residue is rinsed off. If you leave any residue, it will draw more particles that will attach to the carpet fibers causing the stain to reappear.

6. Anytime you get the carpet in your boat wet or after cleaning, you want to let it dry thoroughly before covering or storing in an enclosed area. Remember that basic maintenance of your marine carpet is the easiest way to keep it looking good. Residue of any kind will attract more soiling and the more time it has to set, the harder it is to clean.

ONE PRODUCT – ANY FLOOR!

TEEBAUD® has been developed and engineered to obtain the best nonskid performance for a rug pad. The product is made of two different polyester fibers needle-punched together and coated, on both sides, with a specially formulated water-based pressure sensitive dry adhesive which will outperform pads coated with a plain polymeric-acrylic resin. TEEBAUD®’s two components, containing 12 ounces of fiber per square yard, gives to the pad enough body and density to resist the horizontal movement that creates the buckling effect of the underlay under the rug. This is why TEEBAUD® has almost one pound of fiber per yard, compared to most competing products which commonly have only 3 to 4 ounces of fiber. The light cushioning effect allows the pad and the rug to breathe together with no risk of oxidation or discoloration to any flooring surface. TEEBAUD® will not give a permanent bond to the floor. It is a repositionable underlay: harmless to carpeting, floors and rugs. Teebaud® is the pioneer in reversable non-skid rug underlay.

Works on Carpeting
The white side will grip any textile floor covering (fitted carpet). Teebaud® adheres firmly to your rug and carpet and so helps to prevent slipping or falling over. Place the underlay white side down facing the carpet; then place the rug on top of the gray side.

Works on Hard Floors
The gray side is ideal for use on hard flooring surfaces such as marble, hardwood, ceramic, vinyl or stone. Teebaud® adheres firmly to your rug and floor. Place the underlay gray side down; then place the rug on top of the white side.

Safety At Home
Thousands of people injure themselves each year by falling from their own height! If the first culprit for these accidents is the bath tub in the bathroom, the second is… a moving rug!
Teebaud® nonskid rug underlay plays a major safety role preventing area rugs from wrinkling, moving or buckling on any flooring surface.
For more information on safety, please contact us today.
